Aden,

Thanks for your interest! Here is time, date, and short description of the event:

============
*Living Worship: Explaining the Divine Liturgy of the Orthodox Church

*A lecture by Fr. Nicholas Young, M Div
Friday, February 13, 2009 in the Parish Hall of St. Basil's Church, (50 St. Joseph St.) at 7:00 p.m.

The presentation is about The Orthodox Liturgy of Saint John Chrysostom, its basic components, and the participation of the faithful in the Holy Eucharist. We will discuss the idea of preparation for the partaking of Holy Communion, including our daily devotions, and especially the prayers and hymns of the Liturgy itself, that help us prepare ourselves to receive Christ in the Holy Eucharist. The Eucharist is understood to be the main action of the Orthodox Church, because it is a real participation in Divine life, and we are all called as Christians to unite ourselves to God.

Thanks,

Hello OCF,

I would like to start by expressing how amazing I think this organizing and mobilizing of Orthodox young people is. My peers and I (members of the Ethiopian Orthodox Churches in Toronto) have just organized ourselves to form a collective of our own called Orthodox Youth United (OYU) in effort to acquire an education on the ceremonies, rituals, and bible as interpreted by Orthodoxes and ultimately a more personal relationship with God. In our church the liturgy is pronounced in an ancient Ethiopian language that we do not identify with.

I know a number of people who are interested in attending your LIVING WORSHIP: EXPLAINING THE DIVINE LITURGY OF THE ORTHODOX CHURCH this Friday (as announced in The Varsity newspaper) but am having trouble finding supporting information about this event on your website and want to make sure that this event still happening.

Please get back to me as soon as possible as to give everyone enough time to work this into their weekly schedules.

Thank you,
